Earned Value Management-Awareness - Earned Value Management-Awareness
(04 Jul 17 - 04 Jul 17)

Overview

Introduction

This awareness level workshop introduces delegates to the concept of earned value management (EVM) and how it can greatly benefit an organisation’s reporting on project progress, time and cost measures.

The intent of this course is to inspire an appreciation for the earned value concept and emphasize how performance measurement techniques can be a valuable management tool , especially when applied to a Ministry of Defence project.

Aim

To gain an awareness of Earned Value Management and its terminology.

Objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

- List four benefits of using EVM to control a project;

- Calculate the total estimated over/under spend from a set of given data.

Business Benefits

The earned value concept improves upon the standard comparison of budget vs actual cost which lacks an adequate indicator of progress.

Using Earned value, an organisation can provide progress information on project tasks and can be used to great effect when assessing a project’s cost and performance figures providing additional insight into project status.
