Overview

Introduction

This 3-day practitioner course is designed as a capping session to allow delegates to experience both placing and managing contracts, to analyse previous contract management knowledge and then into a wider MOD context.  It is underpinned by a range of contract case studies, and group/syndicate discussions, experiential and peer to peer learning strategies will apply throughout the course consisting of a series of lectures, facilitated group and syndicated discussions using case studies across the contract lifecycle to underpin the learning.

Delegates will start the course with a brief revision lesson as an introduction to contract and commercial management in order to prepare and develop the knowledge to be applied throughout the course, during which they will be required to contextualise each of the learning sessions to their own work in the MOD.

Aim

The course aim is to give students an understanding of the contractual environment and ability to analyse the commercial issues they face within a MOD context.

Objectives

On completion of the course delegates should be able to:

Analyse the relationship between the commercial strategy and contract management 

Evaluate commercial risk, identifying those which affect MOD capability

Examine mechanisms for incentivisation and how they are applied and their outcomes 

Study relationship management and its application, through examination of a case study. 

Evaluate contract administration, the types and appropriateness and types of audit regimes

This course is available to all MOD Commercial Officers and may be suitable for MOD staff both civilian and military.  

This course may be suitable for MOD Contractors and Other Government Departments.  Applications will be processed through the standard DA income generation route.
