Overview

Introduction

Start Date: Mon 4 Sep 17 or Mon 8 Jan 18 (subject to demand), study spread over 5 years.

This course is delivered by Cranfield University on behalf of the Technology School, Defence Academy.

Aim

Key goals of the course are to provide students with postgraduate level education in order to: develop in individuals an awareness of the management, user and supplier communities; recognise the stakeholder roles, needs and expectations within these communities; enable effective communication and a shared understanding between these stakeholders in order to meet capability objectives; master the principles and practice that underlie the delivery of effective systems, in the business and battle space that exploit information in order to provide strategic benefit.

Pre-requisites

Normally a 1st or 2nd class honours degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline. Alternatively, a lesser qualification with relevant professional experience may be acceptable. Students whose native language is not English must attain an IELTS score of 6.5. Part-time students are required to attend the college for approximately 5 days per module.

Those seeking to master the management of business and supporting systems in order to achieve business benefits, including tri-service military, civil service, agency managers, personnel from defence and other industries. Takes you on to further senior career opportunities and to become one of the next generation of senior managers with skills in appropriate areas including business analysis, strategy development and implementation, information management, information assurance, cyber security and strategic application of information systems. This course is centrally funded less T&S and is primarily aimed at mid career officers (Major (OF3) rank) and above, equivalent grade MOD Civil Servants, in an associated career field or employment.

Students enrolled on the MSc programme also undertake a project/dissertation, allowing them to demonstrate their ability to make use of the knowledge gained during the course in a real-world situation aimed at delivering strategic benefit.

Accreditation / Assessments

Assessment is spread throughout the programme and includes coursework, group presentations, examinations during the taught phase and for the MSc a research based dissertation.
